Church Members

Our early Founders

The first name to be associated with ‘Free Church’ or ‘Nonconformist’ witness in Summertown is that of H. B. Bulteel. He is thought to have had a connection with the Dissenting Meeting House in Middle Way and was a Fellow of Exeter College. He became curate at St Ebbe’s in 1826, preached a highly controversial sermon in the University Church in 1831, took to preaching in Dissenting chapels and finally had his license revoked by the Bishop of Oxford.

Further information on members of the church down the years will follow as soon as time permits.
